Music analysis 2# “The Hills”

Introduction I came across this song from a YouTube video from a channel I like. The video was reviewing the album that the song The Hills was on. I absolutely loved the song and the whole album for that matter. Rachel Chinouriri has been one of my favourite artists for a few years now. Rachel is a London based artist described as an indie pop singer songwriter. Her primary genre is pop but is often mingled in with elements of rock, folk and takes a lot of inspiration from the pop rock sound of the 2000s.  I chose her single The Hills from her critically acclaimed debut album What a devastating turn of events released in 2024. I really enjoy the song for the very intimate lyrics and large screaming rock-pop sound. I think the song reflects on an experience everyone has had in their life, the feeling of not belonging. Music Analysis #1 “puppet”

Introduction Puppet is a song I found about seven months ago while I was scrolling through instagram. I was so perplexed by the interesting production I went to listen to it fully and ended up listening to the whole album it was part of, I really liked how it sounded and how different it was from what I normally listen to. Puppet is the lead single off the 2024 album No Way to Relax When You’re On Fire by Dora jar. This album was her debut and it really caught my attention due to the experimental and weird use of instruments and vocals throughout. Dora jar is an american indie pop rock artist that seamlessly combines electronic elements with whimsical vocals and surreal lyrics. I chose this song to analyze not because it is my absolute favourite but because of how interesting I find the production and vocals choices within the song.                                            ...

Hi, I'm Nola. This is my first blog post for my music class. I’m originally from Valdez Alaska and lived there for seven years. I moved to North Carolina after Valdez because my family was sick of the winters. I moved back to Alaska only a few years after moving away, my dad got a got a good job and we all missed our friends and family. I currently live remote in Prince William Sound. My favourite food is bao buns, my favourite color is the orangey yellow of molten glass. I have a little white dog named Walter, he loves tracking the otters around my house. My hobbies include cooking, swimming, weightlifting and crocheting. Swimming is one of my longest hobbies iv swam competitively for over 15 years now and I just never get sick of in.
